Over the years, I have received many calls from my clients asking if I would duplicate their favorite fragrance that had been discontinued or if I could find a vintage fragrance for them. These requests led me to increase my Vinci & Rakos Parfum line to over 200 scents to help satisfy their needs. However, when I come across fragrances that have been discontinued by retail cosmetic and fragrance houses for men or women, or find a vintage scent, I will offer them here. Vintage Gift Sets will also be included. If a Discontinued Fragrance or a Vintage Fragrance is purchased and the item contains alcohol, the item must be be shipped by UPS Ground Track or USPS Standard Post. (None of the Vinci & Rakos products contain alcohol, however, most of the products on the retail market today do contain alcohol.)

Launched in 2001 by designer Tommy Hilfiger, Tommy T is a floral aldehydic fragrance that is very modern and elegant but fresh and full of energy. Notes of mandarin and bergamot start off this lively blend, with a middle of rose and lily, drying down with a base of amber, musk and woods. Tommy T Girl has been discontinued so this shapely designed bottle is perfect for the lover of Hilfiger fragrance. Vintage Chantilly Houbigant Gift Set
I found a fabulous Newspaper Ad that was in The News from Frederick, Maryland * Page 3, dated December 22, 1969. The Advertising page was from Peoples Drug Store featuring a wide variety of Gifts for Her during the Holidays. There was a picture and copy for the CHANTILLY LADIES’ GIFT SET featured: Creme de Chantilly, 2 Oz., Eau de Toilette, 1 Oz. and Dusting Powder, 1.5 oz. Luxurious! 1578 (priced at $3.75). This Ad verifies that this Chantilly Gift Set is over 55+ years old.
Chantilly by Houbigant was launched around 1941 and was considered to be an oriental/ambery fragrance. The top is fresh with notes of bergamot and fruits, the middle is spicy and floral with notes of jasmine, ylang-ylang and carnation settling down with base notes that are sweet, balsamic and powdery. The Crème de Chantilly has some evaporation due to age, the Chantilly Perfumed Talc is full and The Eau de Toilette Chantilly Houbigant is ¾ full due to evaporation. The three vintage containers sit regally on a red felt and gold pedestal which has the original cardboard over cover in the pink and grey iconic Chantilly flowered pattern that is textured and razed. Vintage Eau Arpege Eau deToilette, Lanvin, Paris
Created in 1927 by Jeanne Lanvin, the scent is considered to be a classic with its femininity and elegance. The blend is an aldehydic with elegant floral notes of jasmine, rose, lily of the valley ending with woody, powdery and sensual notes of vetiver, sandal and musk. Vintage Eau de Calandre, Paco Rabanne, Paris
Romantic but cool and casual, Eau de Calandre begins with an opening of aldehydes, green, cool and flowery notes entering into a middle that expresses a radiance and floral feeling with Rose, Jasmine and Lily of the Valley. Ending with a woody mossy scent that captures the notes of Oakmoss, Musk, Amber and Vetiver. This vintage and rare bottle was designed with a metal over shell to highlight the icon and classic rectangular bottle that is its trademark. The splash type bottle of Eau de Calandre is over 50 years old and is full except for a little evaporation due to age. The bottom of the bottle states: Eau de Toilette Calandre Made in France Paco Rabanne Parfum s.a. Paris. 100 ml 90% vol. (1 available) $175.00
Vintage Guerlain Heart-Shaped Stopper Bottle
Researching the origin of this beautiful bottle and fragrance has been fascinating and challenging. The vintage bottle has the following markings etched on the bottom: Guerlain, Paris, France – Bottle Made in Paris. It also has the words Baccarat France etched, as well as three symbols in a circle: a chalice, a parfum bottle and, I believe, the symbol 11. The heart glass stopper dauber has a number etched underneath the base – it is either 61 or 91 – depending on how you hold the stopper. Other research indicates that the original bottle design was created by a different manufacturer then Guerlain took over the production.
The following information came from the website www.monsiieur-guerlain.com. “It was made in 1912 for the fragrance L’Heure Bleue and Fol Arome but later also contained Mitsouko. It was designed by Baccarat glassworks. L’Heure Bleue’s bottle, called the heart-shaped stopper bottle, is one of Guerlain’s most symbolic and enduring presentations. Influenced by the prominent Art Nouveau design movement which celebrated nature’s sinuous forms, the bottle was made with flowing lines and curvilinear shoulders.”
“As such, the bottle conveyed the angelical grace of the prewar times, even though it was reused for Mitsouko after the war. For many years, the designer and executer of the bottle, Baccarat glassworks, catalogued it as the “gendarme hat bottle” because the stopper appeared to resemble the hat of a French policeman, but the official inspiration is that of a heart, very suggestive of the Belle Époque’s romanticism and refined optimism. The perfume box had chinoiserie-style drawings of various farming motifs, like sowing, harvesting and fishing, portraying the artisan’s love of nature’s produce. Family: semi-oriental, floral. Notes: anise, bergamot, orange blossom, heliotrope, tuberose, carnation, violet, Bulgarian rose, tonka bean, orris, benzoin, vanilla, musk.”
Parfum, EdT, PdT. The L’Heure Bleue Parfum is the most delicious, magnetizing thing ever to come out of the Guerlain patisserie. It’s infinitely smoky-sweet and velvety with the rich flowers evolving only slowly, sedately, and muffled by orris and cushiony balsam and musk all along, literally a gourmand. Less so is the PdT whose spicy carnation strikes sooner. The EdT is a study in the wonders of orange blossom, simultaneously candied and fresh.
Reformulation. Until recently, L’Heure Bleue had suffered surprisingly little from reformulation. Newer batches were not as mellow and long-lasting with less sparkling orange blossom and the use of safer, cleaner and somewhat flatter musks, but the original allure remained. Today, the old classic appears spicier and harder than Jacques Guerlain probably meant it to be.”.
My Comments: The classic bottle is 3” shoulder to shoulder and 2” wide and 5 ½” tall, and contains a little less than a half a bottle of fragrance. It is very rare to actually find a bottle with vintage fragrance. There is no label on the bottle and no carton, however, it appears that the scent is L’Heure Bleue because of its depth and oriental aroma. The fragrance has deepened with age in color and in intensity but still has a vintage appeal. The bottle with fragrance weights 15.7 fl oz, and it is believed to be a 4 fl oz size. I do not want to empty the bottle of its precious liquid to determine the precise weight of the bottle. The fragrance was introduced in 1912, however, the age of this bottle and fragrance is estimated to be around 1930. (1 available) $295.00
Vintage L’Air Temps for Women by Nina Ricci
L’Air du Temps is considered to be a classic and one of the most fabulous fragrances ever created for women. The fresh flowery beginning of the scent moves into a floral spicy sentiment and ends with a powdery and feminine finish. Launched in 1948 after the end of World War 11, the original perfume bottle had a dove on the top to signify peace. This vintage, non-aerosol Eau de Toilette Tester Spray is 4 floz and was distributed by Jacqueline Cochran, New York City. The bottle is full and adorned with beautiful gold doves and flowers silk screened around the container and is over 30+ years old. The tester did not come with a cap or carton. $95.00. There is also a 2 1/2 fl oz size that is half full for $45.00.
Vintage Corday Factice Bottle
Beautiful, tall and regal vintage Corday Factice Bottle with a stunning glass stopper. The glass stopper has the letter C with a P wrapped inside of the C etched on the front of the stopper. The Factice stands over 9” tall and is 2 ½” wide and 3 ½” from shoulder to shoulder. The empty Factice weights 1 lb 11 oz and is the perfect collector’s item that can be filed with colored water or left empty so the detail of the glass shines through. Vintage Charlie Fragrance by Revlon
Charlie was introduced by the cosmetic company, Revlon, in 1973, and was named after its founder, Charles Revson. Charlie was released as a fragrance for the new woman – the working woman. Models such as Shelley Hack and Naomi Sims were featured in the commercials wearing pants suits which was also unheard of at that time. The original cartons had the branding — “A most original fragrance” for women. Charlie was considered a fresh and green fragrance that had a light, floral middle of jasmine, lily of the valley, carnation that settled down to a powdery and sensual base of cedarwood, musk and vanilla. Wonderful scent to wear in the office for the woman who was confident. The following Charlie fragrances and products are vintage, hard to find and are discontinued in the original fragrance formula that was launched in 1973. Items are at least 30+ years old or more.

Charlie Body Silk – 4 fl oz – The carton description: Body Silk (WITH PUMP DISPENSER) A richly moisturizing yet quickly absorbed body lotion, with all the fragrance of cologne. Very rare and impossible to find, the Body Silk is in the iconic Charlie bottle with cobalt blue lettering on the bottle and with a white dispensing, locking pump. The Body Silk has the Charlie scent which has become intensified and the Silk darker in color and on the thin side due to the age of the product. Some product is missing due to evaporation. The Charlie Twist – 1 fl oz – This Charlie Twist Flacon is extremely rare and another has not been found to date. The Twist is a Flacon that was created to hold the concentrated Charlie Perfume and was Designed Exclusively For Charlie by David Webb. The Pendant comes in its original blue felt box with the David Webb designation. In addition, the original sleeve indicating Not For Individual Sale is included. The blue felt box has wear and the Charlie sleeve has discoloration and wear both due to age and being in storage. The Flacon is tightly closed and has not been opened. David Webb was the renowned American Jeweler who had Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Elizabeth Taylor as his clients. He was known for his animal bracelets and brooches, and Mr. Webb died in 1975. The original carton indicates that the 100ml – 3.4 floz bottle was purchased at the landmark and closed I. Magnin/Bullock’s Wilshire for $115.00 which means the bottle is over 33+ years old. Vicky Tiel Crème Parfumee Pour Le Corps is a silky, non-greasy exclusive Swiss formula, this luxurious cream tones and moisturizes the skin…….as printed on the original carton. The gorgeous 200 ml – 6.75 oz frosted glass jar has an exquisite gold metal cap highlighted with the same woman that embraces the Eau de Parfum bottle. Vintage Sterling Silver Perfume Bottle
Vintage Perfume bottle from Mexico that has a beautiful Sterling Silver inlaid design around the glass bottle in a pretty leaf pattern. The overlaid cap is also Sterling Silver that covers a plastic cap underneath. There is a plastic insert that goes into the bottle to protect the perfume from spilling. After cleaning, there is some tarnish due to age which is vintage circa around 1987 or earlier. The Perfume Bottle size is 2 ½” tall by ¾” wide and will hold about 1/3 fl oz of Parfum. Vintage International Silver Company Perfume Flask
Vintage Silver plated Perfume bottle with an adorable fragrance dip wand that is part of the cap. The design has an art deco type of feeling and freshness. The container is 2 1/2” tall x 1 ½” across and about ½” wide. The International Silver Company label came off while the flask was being cleaned. There is still some tarnish due to age which is vintage circa around 1989. No perfume has even been filled into the container so please feel free to add your favorite scent. Vintage Aida Essence by Aida Grey
“Aida Grey is a name with a series of firsts’ after it,” quoting Harper’s Bazaar (September 1986). “She coined the term ‘skin care’ to describe the service she brought to American women 50 years ago; she pioneered the use of natural ingredients — herbs, flowers, fruits, vegetables and seaweeds–in order to treat her own sensitive skin; and she began using DNA ampoules in skincare — before anyone else, of course.” It was 37 years ago that Aida Grey came out with a honey and almond pore cleanser, a concept that today is imitated by many skin care companies.
This very rare and vintage Aida Essence came from her former Beverly Hills Store over 22+ years ago. Recorded information on the notes in the Essence cannot be located, and since the bottles have never been opened, I cannot describe the Essence. The pretty bottles are adorned with a glass stopper and have an Aida Essence hang tag around the neck. Vintage Avon The Atlantic 4-4-2 Deep Woods After Shave
Printed on the colorful carton: The late 19th century model which inspired our Avon designer was the ATLANTIC 442 steam engine. 442 refers to the locomotive type—it had 4 wheels in the front, in the middle and 2 in the rear. This very unique collector’s container holds 5 fl oz of Deep Woods After Shave. The After Shave is dispensed by removing the back engine where a screw cap allows the fragrance to flow. Vintage Avon Thomas Flyer 1908 Wild Country After Shave (with Bonus Gift)
Description on this unique carton: The Thomas Flyer 1908, a car that always will be remembered in automotive chronicles, was the inspiration for the design of this decanter. It made its entrance into history on the morning of February 12, 1908 in Times Square, New York City. Huge crowds had gathered to witness the start of the longest and greatest automotive contest every held: The New York to Paris, Race. Six cars competing – five foreign and the American, Thomas Flyer, a stock 1907 Model 36 4 cylinder 60 hp Flyer, with the unique Thomas ratchet-and-pawl device that prevented it from rolling backwards on hills. After 169 grueling days racing across three continents, the Thomas Flyer, with the memorable slogan “New York to Paris” painted on the ends of its auxiliary fuel tank, arrived in Paris the triumphant winner.
The vintage Flyer has a removable cobalt blue luggage rack and a tire cover that removes to reveal a screw cap that releases the wonderful scent of Wild Country After Shave. Wild Country was launched in the late 1950’s as an ambery fougere blend that is fresh, herbaceous with a little spicy, sweet and powdery notes. Vintage and very rare bottle of Old Spice After Shave Lotion featured in a Ship’s Lantern Decanter dated around 1980. This very unique bottle if full of the wonderful scent of Old Ship which is a fresh, spicy and slightly sweet and powdery scent. The container is a splash type bottle where the cap has a plug inside to contain the fragrance. The Lantern Decanter has a sprayed gold finish which is slightly scratched on the back of the bottle. Vintage Avon Jewel Perfume Collection
Six Avon Perfume oils are presented in this very rare and vintage fragrance collection launched in the mid 1960’s. The adorable perfume bottles fit upside down in the display box that is lined in blue felt. The 1” x 1” bottles are adorned with pretty round caps that highlight the eight sided glass design. The set up box has a beautiful snowflake and flower design silk-screened in gold over the blue felt, and the beige top is inscribed with the words Avon Jewel Collection. The six bottles have never been opened and are in wonderful condition. The box was received with only one of the bottles having a scent label on the front – Here’s My Heart, Avon, NY. An incredible find! A vintage Gift Box featuring Echo Eau de Parfums by Mario Valentino, Italy. Echo is a sweet and green floral with notes of violet, orange blossom, tuberose and ends with a powdery woody base with notes of amber, vetiver and tonka. The main feature of the Gift Box is a 1.7 fl oz (50 ml) exquisite bottle of Parfum. As a special and rare treat, a pump atomizer with a white tassel to fit into the bottle is included to help create that vintage look. The cloth pump has some fading due to age. The original .17 fl oz Miniature bottle of Echo that was in the Gift Box was almost empty, so I included a second .17 fl oz bottle as my extra gift. The Gift Box cover has seen its days because of age but it is the original packaging. I have not seen this Echo Gift Box anywhere else in my research. $95.00
Chivalry Cologne Spray for Men Inspired by George Hamilton
A very rare and vintage fragrance that was inspired by George Hamilton and distributed by the Pantron Corp, Los Angeles, California in 1990. There is almost no information on the fragrance; however, it is a beautiful masculine scent that is very fresh and citrusy with warm undertones. My retail store, Who Makes Sense? was around the corner from Pantron back in 1990, and I visited his office several times when his Sun Care line was being introduced. The bottle is exquisite with midnight green, frosted glass packaged in a dark green and black outer carton. She Cologne Spray was introduced by Revlon in 1997 as an alluring, modern floral with a spicy edge. The top notes are grapefruit and champagne, the middle contains magnolia, roses, honeysuckle ending with a base of sandalwood, musk and woods. The bottle is curvy, feminine and slim and is .5 fl oz (15 ml) size and boxed in its original carton. This very pretty fragrance is now discontinued and has slight evaporation due to age. About 20 years ago, a client of mine asked me to let her know if I ever come across a bottle of Twilight Perfume from Yvette, Inc., Duluth, Minnesota. Introduced as a very hip and modern fragrance for the woman who thinks she is absolutely fabulous. The scent was introduced in 2008 by Coty Prestige as a floral fragrance highlighted with fruity and oriental notes. Some of the notes that make up this exciting blend are: juicy plum, orange blossom, lily, coconut milk, honey, vanilla, patchouli and amber. The 3.4 fl oz bottle (100 ml) is the original, beautiful crystal-like design with the Baby Phat logo etched on the bottom of the bottle. Vintage Heaven Scent by Helena Rubinstein
The scent of Heaven Scent was introduced around 1940 or 1941 by Helena Rubinstein. The scent was categorized as a floral bouquet with innocence, which included top notes of orange and mint, middle notes of rose and lily, ending with sandalwood, patchouli and musk. I found the scent to be very comforting with a powdery warmth. To some, Heaven Scent is a classic.
